In order to ensure that gambling standards are on the highest levels, Veikkaus appointed numerous supervisory board members to ensure that everything is running smoothly.
The new board is tasked with overseeing corporate governance, stakeholders and gambling. It led by chair Jukka Gustafsson and vice-chair Jani Mäkelä.
Also, there are parliamentarians and Ilmari Nalbantoglu of the Finnish Olympic Committee who are responsible for the board’s work. They will be working alongside 13 new members.
There are 28 members in general, 13 of which are representatives of Finland’s political parties and the other 13 who are representing Veikkaus stakeholders. The remaining two represent the employees.
The board is tasked with submitting their concerns and reports to the Prime Minister’s Office. In order to improve the efforts, Veikkaus already tightened the rules and regulations related to gaming control.
Veikkaus is a giant in Finland. They own 18,500 slot machines in the country, although it seems that this number will be reduced in the coming months. Also, there will be new ID control that will be introduced in the next two years.
“These measures will make it possible to build a holistic ecosystem for safer gambling, and create more opportunity to prevent money laundering offenses,” chief executive Olli Sarekoski explained.
