Home » Washington DC to Launch Sports Betting License Applications from December 3

Washington DC is all set to open sports betting licenses. The District of Columbia’s Office of Lottery and Gaming (OLG) has revealed the application process for the new sports betting licenses would be launched on December 3rd. The applications will be available on the online portal on the new OLG new sports wagering microsite. It will be available on dclotterysportsbetting.com for the applicants. However, the applicants can also find it in the dcra.dc.gov, the business license portal of the Department of Consumer and Regulatory Affairs.

There are two categories for the operators in the Washington DC Class A and Class B. The online portal will have the instructions for the applicants who are seeking sports wagering license for both Class A and Class B. There are applications available for the Management Service Provider and Supplier categories as well in the online portal. However, the occupational license applications that are also widely sought would only be available from January 2020.

However, the application would not be enough for the operators. The potential applicants need to contact the OLG Regulation and Oversight Department and seek a ‘Scope of Licensing’ meeting. This needs to be done before the application process starts. This would help the potential applicants to understand the criteria and understand what they must do to apply for the license.

The potential applicants must need to know that Washington DC State seeks substantial documents from them to determine their qualifications for the license. There would be background verification and investigation. This is done to ensure that the applicants have the stability in the market.
