The iGaming solutions provider, Playtech will soon launch a new line of native products in order to support the operating partners that are preparing to adapt to changes in the Apple App Store, which were announced last June and will take effect as of September 3.
With this measure, Playtech customers will be able to create native iOS-compatible applications through the use of a Software Development Kit (SDK), without having to use another additional software developer.
In addition to fully native online casino content, the new Native-First product line also includes games compiled natively. While the Apple guidelines update contained in clause 4.7 specifically refers to gambling that is played with real money and lottery games, as well as digital commerce applications and charitable donations.
The new guidelines established by Apple prevent gambling operators “repackage their websites” using HTML5 technologies and then upload them to the App Store. All gaming applications from now on must include native functionality. In other words, betting or game applications must be native to iOS.
According to Peter Mares, CTO of Playtech Games Innovation Labs, changes in the App Store guidelines created an additional
“apple-shaped ring” for online casino game operators to jump.
According to the updated guide, HTML5 games
“distributed in applications may not provide access to real money games, lotteries or charitable donations.” In addition, “this functionality is only appropriate for the code that is integrated into the binary and Apple can review it.”
The presentation of Playtech’s first native product line is a company effort to support the success of its customers, said Mr. Mares. He said that Playtech fully understands that in order to continue operating successfully its customers need a hand.
